An exhibition of paintings, continuing the (UN)SEEN collection, at The New Steine Hotel, Brighton, BN2 1PB.
From 10 am – 6 pm daily. Please ring the bell for admittance.
(UN)SEEN is the latest collection of paintings from Romany created over the last three years and explores how we interact in the face of the constant barrage of news and media, and deal with the harsh reality of life. Does the figure see or are they blind to reality? Where does the external stop and the internal begin?
The exhibition coincides with the publication of Sculpting Colour, with Unicorn Publishers a monograph of Romany’s work spanning 30 years. Written by Alex Leith, the biography details his life growing up in Ireland, and how subsequent events, in particular the death of Paul Tay, have influenced his artistic career. Alex analyses the sculptural techniques Romany employs in painting, and he regard himself as a sculptor who paints.
