As Christmas approaches and we are all thinking of the perfect gift there could not be a better time to search for that perfect piece of art, whether from new interesting artists, your favourite artists or via art galleries. Now feels like a good time to express why as an artist, I see buying art as one of the most personal and individual gifts anyone could give.
So much more time is now being spent in our homes, with home offices becoming more evident across the world, so let’s not stare at blank walls but rather be inspired by our surroundings! Art can bring a completely new atmosphere and conversation to a room, it becomes your decoration and your personal feature of expression. I have been lucky enough to have had some wonderfully challenging private commissions and it has been incredibly fulfilling to see these works in their new owner’s homes, having a significant and positive impact on their surroundings, and becoming a topic of discussion. Buying art for someone is a wonderful way to express your care and thoughts for them, not only as something that will hopefully enhance their lives but also as a possible investment for them, be it an original, or a limited edition print.
Don’t be intimidated buying art, buy what you love or what you think someone you are giving to will love! They may well look at every day and be uplifted or inspired in some way. There are so many varied exhibitions and artists to explore and as an artist naturally these are events that I enjoy and hope by sharing others can too Explore artists websites, and If you see something you like, contact the artist, they will be pleased to hear from you and help you make a purchase.
My art works explore figurative abstract impressionism in both paintings and sculptures and my latest works display a detailed focus with abstract expressionism as well as exploring the incredible impact colour can have in art and consequently on us as the viewer. As with many artists, my work and inspiration continues to develop with each collection – how and why is often difficult to understand, but therein lies the excitement!
Christmas is hopefully a time of joy and happiness and a time when colour indulges our senses and art plays a huge role in this. Artists appear all over the world wanting to spread these emotions. Hockney’s spectaular Christmas trees on Battersea Power Station couldn’t share this message more clearly! Created on an Ipad by one of our best loved artists Hockney’s installation is truly joyful and uplifting
A painting tells a story, creates a mood, brings our emotions alive – now is the perfect time to treat yourself or buy the best Christmas gift for someone.
