This weekend I received a link to an article in L. A. Weekly, a publication in Los Angeles, USA, known for its bold coverage of arts and culture.
The article begins with the words Pablo Picasso believed art has the power to cleanse our souls from life’s mundane struggles – a paraphrase of the quote is from Picasso ‘Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ‘
I am not sure I can claim that my soul has been cleansed, but I can agree that the dust of everyday life is constantly being washed away!
It is interesting reading someone else’s summation of my career move from law to art – I would never have described day to day life as a litigator as predictable, it was enormously exciting. The lawyer in me will never get away from reading every article and document with a red pen at the ready, wanting to amend each and every line. So, other than saying the AIDS Memorial is cast in bronze NOT brass, I will leave it there!
To be fair, they have done their research and it is a somewhat embarrassingly kind article.
