ROMANY MARK BRUCE TRANSFORMS NEWHAVEN FORT INTO WAR-TORN WAREHOUSE

Acclaimed theatre company Brighton Theatre aims to address the Israeli-Palestianian conflict without bias or propaganda in its new work for Brighton Fringe.

Director Faynia Williams and writer Richard Cranehave once again proved their commitment to groundbreaking new work by travelling to Gaza to gather material for this moving and provocative site-specific World Premiere, I Am a Warehouse.

Marking the 60th anniversary of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), the show tells the story of the shelling of a UN refugee aid warehouse in Gaza last year, and is based on an original idea by Chris Gunness, chief spokesperson for UNRWA, the organisation responsible for the support and welfare ofPalestinian refugees.

Brighton Theatre will once again "turn the impossible into an art" focusing on the tragedy that affected thousands of refugees from the point of view of the Warehouse itself. The Warehouse speaks and sings as it burns, exposing the futility of Middle East conflict.

The immersive performance in the atmospheric setting of Newhaven Fort will feature an art installation in the Fortss tunnels, by Romany Mark Bruce (sculptor of Brighton's Aids Memorial and designer of Brighton Theatre's 2009 award-winning show), and rare archival film as well as film by the Gazan cameramen and artists Faynia. There will be a question and answer session after the show.ign Page
